Stop Light Not Working

Recommended Posts

Edp

Hi all,

Recently dropped a mi16 into my 205 and wired it all up. It starts and runs great but I have an issue with the stop lights don't appear to be working. Neither the oil and water stop lights work although I know the cable is fine as when I ground them out the lights come on. It seems strange that both sensors are buggered?! I've even tried swapping wires around to see if that was the problem but I had the right cables in the 1st place

Anyone with any wisdom be kind enough to share....

Cheers

Oil pressure switch is faulty would be my guess if grounding the wire illuminates the dash warning lights.

The STOP, oil pressure and coolant temp lights together are triggered using the oil pressure switch - thus if that doesn't work or there's a wiring issue, none of them come on when you switch the ignition on.

I suspect that there's nothing at all wrong with the high coolant temp switch - it's just that it won't do anything until you've overheated the engine (110 degree switching temperature if I remember - something in that ballpark anyway)
