2.0 8V Turbo Exhaust Manifold Gasket

I received my new exhaust manifold gasket for my turbo engine today, however on fitting it I have a question. The gasket came with the metal heatshield that goes between the head and the manifold, with the gaskets attached to one side. I presume that they go against the head as that is the only way it can go. My question is - should there be additional gaskets between the plate and the manifold? The plate has a flange that bevels out towards the manifold, is this the seal? I cannot be sure as I did not remove the manifold and the person who did cannot remember.
