Xsara Vts Box - Changing Clutch Arm And Fork.

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all.

Just a quick question - changing the arm/fork from the be3 box over to the vts box for my turbo conversion. However i cannot get the rollpin out of the arm on the be3 box, is it threaded? Tried hitting with a large hammer but to no avail!

cheers

they arent threaded no, some may have a thread on the exposed end to attach a slide hammer to though, they arent a roll pin, just a solid pin.

often the easiest way to remove the old arm is to just cut them off.

dont forget to fit new bushes, theyre less than £2 from the dealers and make quite a difference to the feel of the clutch :)

Thats brilliant, thanks! Ill get my bigger hammer out! Was hoping to use the clutch arm from the be3 box, however the xsara one looks the same so should do if I end up chopping it.

Cheers

Ok thanks, just thought it looked similar at a quick glance. Do you know if I should also change the input shaft seal on the xsara box for a 205 one? sorry to go off topic

cheers

be careful giving it a clattering with a hammer as you will end up damaging gearbox ally casing.

as said easiest way is to cut through fork to remove them but i managed to drill the pin out of my old box and then tapped hole out with M8 and used a cap screw to put arm back on.

Yes decided against hammering the pin, used the drill and job done.
