This bloody car took 7-8 hours just to get the head off, soo many pipes and hidden bolts it's unbelievable!

Looks like a VTEC (Yo!) cam but the lobe in the middle is always active :)

Think stem seals have let go, burning a bit of oil. There's not alot of mileage on it but the age of it doesn't help. not sure if Japanese oil grade is different and has buggered the stem seals using English oil. Random I know.

Got the rest of the engine out, mate's decided to go the whole nine yards with it.

 

New rings

Crank polish

Bearings

New clutch

Cams possibly

Piston rings (as they fail, common fault apparently)

Hone

Bit of an update :lol:

 

We finally got the right headstuds this time at last.

Head's on and just got to do the cambelt.

 

Drop engine in and try remember where everything goes :lol:

 

After that he's letting me run it in :ph34r:

Seems to be making good compression turning the engine over with the plugs in.

Just waiting for HT leads to be delivered, fill it with oil, put driveshafts in, gearbox oil in and we are ready to fire up! :)

Awesome cars, done a few rallies in the past in the 16v ones, but one of the lads did put the 20v in his and my god did it scream goin down the lanes!!

Finding a good solid AE86 is the hard part!
