Depth Of Speed

It's a rare pleasure when something decent pops up on Facebook, and this one comes via one Mr Basil Thorn :)

This isn't the actual vid he posted, but another in the Depth Of Speed series. Watch them all, as they are all interesting and have stunning cinematography. The one that Baz posted is called JDM Legends Restored and has some cracking old GTRs in it

Anyway, here's your starter for ten......enjoy

B) Good work Steve!

I was watching Fast5 the other night at friends (bored!) and it made me lust after a KPGC10, the JDM Legends vid didn't help either!!

Yeah great vids. I was confused by the pickup pushing the orange car and how slow a big black muscle car got off the line; then I saw a bike and saw him try to control the wheel spin and thought..."Oh there's no grip!". The worse part is: I already knew there was no grip out there but hadn't been able to put two and two together.

I think the pickup truck was bump starting the orange muscle car, I may be wrong?

push vehicles are used where the car is so highly geared that it cannot pull away under it's own power. These cars are geared for well into 200mph in many cases remember. The lack of grip is probably a contributory factor but I'm pretty certain it's the gearing that's the main issue. You'll see in the video that when the car gets going it's still at a very low engine speed in first gear but it's travelling at probably 30mph by the time it's going.
