Well, after years of having to work on the 205 in a garage that it just about fits in (the other half is my office) and having to make sure I can complete any work in a day so I can get it back in the garage I have bought a new garage, sorry that shoulld have read house and it happens to have a massive garage!

My wife says the 205 looks a bit lost in there, I told her that's because there is space for a Caterham!

is it wrong when looking at a house you go to see how big the garage is first before setting foot in the house??

I have to admit, garage choice (or space to build one) was top on our priority list when we bought our house!

That's a monster though!

It looks big but you will soon fill it. Lets say two cars, tools, spares and also an over spill for other domestic items ect.!

Domestic items? I don't think so, only one key and I've got it!

Doesn't look like room for a Caterham to me. Looks more like room for a complete strip down and restoration of a cherry red 205

Ah, new garage is a good feeling :) Sadly being *encouraged* to work on the house before going out to play is not so good! :D

Nice! I was insistent that I would have to have a garage. Now all my car bits are going to work as I now have a unit 5 miles from home so it will now be used as domestic overflow. Probably a good thing as its only a little house.

When we brought our house a garage was at the top of my list. You garage is impressive tho.... Room for a few tool box's and another pug to stop yours from getting lonely. Hahaha

Make sure you keep the only keep safe. Don’t want the other half making a copy….

MASSIVELY jealous.

We're in the process of selling our flat and a garage couldn't be higher up my priority list. If I had my way I'd by a massive garage and just live upstairs!

A few folk on here have seen my garage.

Just beware that it is all too easy to fill it with stuff/junk.

I've spent the last week re-wiring the house, I now realise that I have my priorities wrong, I need to re-wire the garage, improve the lighting, dig a pit and get all my tools sorted out - probably need to build a sleep area as well when the missus kicks me out :(

It's definitely on the agenda, but have to get the house habitable first - it's an old vicarage in need of a bit of TLC. I think we got lucky on the price as we paid almost the same as we are selling our house for, difference is that I have spent the last 10 years doing our current house up and am now goiing to start all over again. Hopefully will be worth it at the end!

That's a top looking garage! Garage envy is terrible - Mine is a tandem style so not as useful as a double.

We've just moved but my new garage needs a bit of fitting out - Then it will be ready to receive the 205 and continue the resto!

Just a house resto to finish and a 5 week old baby in the way of that. I look at as an extra pair of (albeit small) hands to assist on the 205.

I'm currently house-hunting and my primary requirement is either a double garage or space to build a double garage.

Found a great one that has a single garage leading to a double garage, definitely gonna be looking round! ^_^

I'm not doing too badly on the garage front myself (only a single but doubled it in length a couple of years ago) but still that is one fine garage. It is bad having to compromise on the garage requriements just for the house, but the wife doesn't agree...

I checked our garage out covertly before even stepping through the front door of ther house. I hadn't bought the first 205 at that point but I did have lots of ideas; although only a single it is a very good size and with a 205 inside I have 5' between car and door, a couple of feet either side and working room at the far end (with cabinets full of polish and that rubbish taking up a foot & a half at the back. Some of the side space has shrunk with bikes/old tables/shelving/family junk but it has plenty of roof space.

No power and after 8 years I've got used to running extension leads up the garden - soon to be rectified when my electrician neighbour's back from his honeymoon.

All I need then is a plasma and XBox and a bit of insulation and I have my proper mancave.

That's a fantastic garage you have there.

One thing I miss is our previous garage (er I mean house); I have put quite a lot of work into it myself and I enjoyed doing it up (painting, shelves, storage under roof, siliconing all holes and windproofing it, dehumidifier, epoxy industrial floor!)

I would find any excuse to go in there and find some work to do (not necessarily on the car as my skills were/are quite basic), improving it or just look/clean the 205  .

A garage with heating and a bed would be an ideal mancave indeed

Currently living in a flat and although it has an underground shared garage it's not the same. Having your own private space is the best!

is it wrong when looking at a house you go to see how big the garage is first before setting foot in the house??

A few years ago I rented a liitle unit with a mate so we had somewhere to work on our cars, after a year or two I needed to find a house to rent and as my mates lease was ending on his flat we decided to find a house with a decent garage and rent that along with a third friend. After a bit of searching we spotted one in the paper, went to have a quick look at it on a drive by and then rang the estate agent to arrange a viewing. The day of the viewing arrived, we met the agent and went straight in to the garage, decided on the spot we'd have it and asked him to sort the paperwork out. (plenty of room to get two cars in and loads of space to work around them and then a 3rd car along the back wall sideways) He looked a bit confused as we hadn't even set foot in the house, in the end we went for a quick look round inside and then signed the papers.

The garage in question
