306 Gear Knob

If any one breaks their knob ( ouch) on a 205 heres a tip. Some 306 knobs won't fit but as i had the wrong type and could not be faffed to mess about finding another idid the following. I got a good quality rubber sleeve that was a good fit in the knob and also a very thight fit over the gear lever. I kept the metal ring on the gear stick but cut the plastic sleeve on the stick down to the metal ring. Next i inserted the rubber sleeve into the knob about an inch was all that was needed.Then i filled the knob with a good quality silicone sealent and pushed it on the gear lever untill it reached the metal ring. Its on there really firm and will be a job to get it off. I used a brand new knob but it should work on a used item. I hope this tip may come in handy as getting the right fitting can be a bit of a pain these days.
