Fitting New Cv Boot

Recommended Posts

Mad Professor

Hi All.

I have to fit a new CV Boot for my car to pass it's MOT on the retest.

I have replaced this same CV boot last year.

And it was a right pain in the ass to do.

Is there an easyer way of doing this?

Can you tell me how you peps have done yours?

Thanks.

Has the XS got a seperate CV joint or is it a one piece driveshaft like the GTi?

If it is get a cone strectching tool to fit the driveshaft gaitors without having to remove the driveshaft otherwise the easiest way is to relace the driveshaft as sleeper205 said.

use the cone tool as suggested with flexible cv boots as it wont work with the rigid type, makes life alot easyer.

i just replace it with a new shaft, of course bit more expensive but quicker and easier in the long run, and also if the boot is spilt and has lost grease then the joint will be worn as it would have dried out
