Car Covers

Recommended Posts

Evening all

im going to be heading back down to plymouth way fairly shortly, and last year the car got bird dirt'ed to high heaven and its cold, and it rained, and theres saltwater in the air, now its been resprayed. I want to cover the car in something, but am concerned about the cheap covers.

is there something between the £150 mark and the £25 halfrauds special?

Ive seen this being recommended in the search on them - it fits a 205 gti perfectly aparently

just wanted your views really

Cheers

John

i have an indoor cover for mine from Specialised covers and it is great. Think they do outdoor covers too at your sort of price range, ik am sure, so check out their website. Here is my advice though. Don't put a cover on your car unless you've just washed it - otherwise the dirt particles on the paint will act like an abrasive and scratch your paint and you'll end up with a load of swirl marks. I would also recommend you slap as many coats of a decent quality carnuba wax on the car as you can (NOT polish!), and regularly reapply it. That will give your paintwork a good hard protective layer against the elements and mikght actually be a better bet than a cover, especially if you can find time to regularly wash it to remove salt and the other detritus you mention.

I have two of those covers from chartoneauto & they do fit nicely.

I have one on my 205 stored in a gaarge & another that I use occasionally outside when my car has been freshly washed if there is a large amount of dust around (next door are mid-way through ripping the inside out so plenty atm).

They are more for indoor storage imo but suitable for occasional use outside whenthe car isn't being used daily.

Annoyingly, I washed my 205 last night but never got the cover on before going out & there was a film of dust on already when I got up this morning so I'll be washing it again later before I put the cover on.

Yeah, both mine are Saxo versions & the fit is fine.

It has elasticated hems & also clips for underneath.
