Mot Gas Test

Was just wondering what the actuall bench mark is for the figures given on the MOT sniffer to denote a healthy 1.9?

Today mine recorded:

- CO = 0.15%

- HC = 534ppm

I know these figures are very low, so was wondering if this shows I am running lean?

I know a lot of adjustment is done to get the levels down to Pass a MOT but are some figures too low?

Does that make sense?

Cheers

PS - it failed, handbrake cable snapped on the rollers. Typical of it to let go then. Stupid car.

HC's very high, Something wrong there, CO is low but is it a CAT Model? if not it should be around 2.5%

Slightly high HC's will probably be down to the cam mentioned in his signature.

So long as it starts and idles well, I wouldn't worry too much about the actual CO value - some engines seem to idle much better running lean mixtures.

Mine had a similar HC reading. 564 I think. There is a smell of petrol when it's idling.

I think my afm is a bit worn, im going to try one my mates got to see if that improves it. What else could resolve the problem?
