Nautilus Horn Failure

Recommended Posts

Daxed

It was a new item fitted about a year ago.

Has not been subject to excessive heat or road spray.

Total use must be all of 60 seconds. Haven't pulled it off to have a look yet. It is getting power as is making a very dull farting sound when activated.

Any ideas if they fail like this or could it be another related problem?

Thanks.

not heard of them failing, things to check would be the voltage coming to it, and the condition of the earth.

Have had one of the original factory fitted units get a bit sticky and managed to revive it by cleaning out the grease in the compressor, never taken the Stiebel compressor apart though so can't comment whether this is possible.

I've had one for years, since the original thread about them on here. It's been on four or five different cars and left exposed to rain and generally abused but it still works like it did when it was new.

Funny this should come up - mines got exactly the same problem. It failed the MOT on it. I was hoping the fart noise would be enough!

Iv cleaned up the connections, and run a new earth, but to no avail. I thought I'd try running a live feed to it to test the unit.

Let me know if u find something Daxed.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

Should be having a look at mine sometime this week Pete, will let you know the outcome.

Right pain when the horn doesn't work, tends to be one of those items that you only find out it has failed during a situation where you really need it. The young lady walking in Ottershaw last week, enjoying the sunshine will be forever ignorant of just how impressed I was with the way she filled her T shirt. Unless of course she considers a car farting at her a compliment.
