Non-Starting S16

OK, i have an XU10J4 S16 in a GT shell. Its on standard managment, so MP3.2. It has a keypad fitted.

I have searched and read countless threads but im still a little confused.

The problem is the car will not start, it turns over fine but refuses to get going.

The keypad flashes red as it suppose to with the ignition off, as you turn it to primer the red light stops flashing, and then a few seconds later both the green and red lights come on.

As this happens you can hear the double relay click. When i type in the code i used to be able to hear a second click from the relay.

At this point i was getting 12v to the fuel pump, the ICV, vaccum pump, injectors etc.

There was no spark and the injectors werent firing.

So after playing with the wiring im left in a similar situation, except that i dont have to enter the code for there to be power at all the above, its getting 12v at pin's 3 and 14 on the double relay. So am i right in thinking i might have accidently bypassed the keypad somehow?

My second question is wire 820? is the output from the keypad to the ECU, what do the other 2 wires i have do.. 820, 824? (think these are the numbers anyway, ill double check later), as if i unplug them i still get 12v at the relay, and everything powers up...

My third question is would any of the above weirdness with the keypad cause the ECU to not fire the injectors/coilpacks or does the keypad literally just send power to the double relay?

Liam

did the green light come on after entering the code?

it went:

red flashing light

key in - turn to primer

red and green light on constant

enter code

lights dont change, but hear the relay click a second time.

everything has power as it should.

could the keypad itself be faulty? are these known for breaking?

when working properly you dont get green+red at the same time, and should get green when the code is accepted.

dont know much else sorry!

thats what i thought, but as the relay is getting power is it actually working? Im getting 12v at the injectors, and the idle control valve is buzzing away so the second relay has definently closed, however im not sure if the keypad also sends out another signal which controls the CAS input maybe, and preventing the ECU from firing the injectors/sprak?

thats all on the igniton switched side afaik, fuel pump would be the second half of the relay, plus spark+injection pulse.

im getting 12V at the fuel pump... im also getting a small voltage at the coil packs. Ive checked one and i get 2v, is this normal?. Im not getting anything at the ignition amps

I've left the car with the battery unplugged to hopefully reset the ECU and as i've been busy. Reconeected the battery, turned the ignition and now the keypad goes from flashing red, to a solitary green light. Without the entering of a code...

Im thinking that with all my fiddling ive accidently unlocked the ECU somehow? It still isnt starting however, so im thinking maybe CAS?

You should only have 12v at the pump when cranking, if this is the case then the CAS etc is all working
