swordfish210 20 Posted August 18, 2011 I used a 1mm aluminum plate cut to shape, bonded in on and used a few rivets to clamp it in place
Rich_p 23 Posted August 18, 2011 if it's being used for competition it needs to be a certain thickness I believe. 4MM springs to mind. Plenty of threads on here if you do a search.
ally7th 7 Posted August 18, 2011 dont know about circuit racing, but for rallying the rules are- 48.1.8. Glass sunroofs are not permitted. Sunroofs may be of a non-shattering solid rigid material other than glass. Any sunroof must be firmly secured in the closed position. The sunroof aperture may be closed by solid material permanently fitted in place.

Alan_M 66 1 Cars Posted August 25, 2011 Hello, what would be the best way to blank a sunroof, was a sliding sunroof and so far i have sanded thhe roof down and filled the bolt holes, cheers. I got a bit of ally (2-3mm) and used the sunroof frame to make a template, which I then used to cut out a blanking plate. Again, used the sunroof frame to drill holes into the plate and using button head bolts (M5 I think), bolted the plate onto the original rivnuts not forgetting the copious amounts of sealer to stop rain. My spray job is a bit pants though. I've another 205 with a sunroof plate welded in and it looks pants.

arwel 43 2 Cars Posted September 8, 2011 Quick question on the sunroof blanking as I need to do this on mine. I was told last night that inside the roof, between the headlining and roof, there is frame that the sunroof runners are attatched to. Can anyone confirm this and also will I have any problems in getting it out as I have a roll cage already installed? Cheers Arwel
harryskid 193 Posted September 8, 2011 That would look loads better blended in even on a compt car!

nickaliath 22 Posted September 10, 2011 Cut a roof skin from a non sunny 205 in the scrappers. Weld ontop of current roof, blend in with a grinder and paint! If you were to do this would be better to remove old roof skin aswell to weld on to the frame, if its welded on top of old roof it will sit too high.
