Mi-16 Water Leak

Recommended Posts

voot33

Hi everyone. Not posted on here before as relatively new to 205 ownership having purchased a 1.9 mi-16 converted car a few months ago. Feel there may now be a big problem though.

Noticed the car was lagging a bit while driving but was round town and didn't really have an opportunity to open it up so thought it had probably got a little hot. After parking up, i came back a few hours later and noticed a pool of water under the car. All the coolant had emptied out. I filled up the bottle and went under the car and it is leaking out of the bottom of the engine in a constant stream (see image) My link

Does anyone have any experience of such an issue? is it likely to be a cracked block?

Many thanks in advance

Rich

looks to be coming from behind the timimg belt covers, so quite likely to be the water pump if you dont know how old it is, i wouldnt risk starting it up till youve had tge covers off for a look, you dont want a knackered wp throwing the timing belt off

As said from that area the pump seal is the most likely issue, As said whip the covers off or get someone to have a look at it, But time for a complete belt and tensioner kit

thanks for the replies. Have spoke to a couple of peopole this week and yes seems like the most likely issue. will try and get the covers off this wknd and have a look. does this also explain the engine lagging? is that just a side effect of a lack of coolant?
