Oil, Where From And Is This The Right Choice?

Recommended Posts

TaffyTim

Im thinking of a silkolene 5w40 fully synth for my mi16 that will be used for road use, may be 6000 miles a year, and a track day every now and then.

Where is best to get this from?

If anyone thinks im choosing the wrong oil or can recommend another brand then please add your 2 pence worth :)

Fuchs Titan XTR 10w40 semi synthetic from Opie oils (forum discount).

If you are only using the engine for the road & the occasional trackday there isn't any reason to spend the extra for the silkolene imo, especially if the engine isn't recently rebuilt to as new but even then it's questionable.

I've been running XTR for the last few years in my car & have yet to see reason not to continue.

Miles

Another XTR recommendation here, Managed 10+ miles on a Mi with no Oil pump chain so no oil pressure, replaced it and the engine was fine for another 1 1/2 years until a general freshen up.

Can't get better than that

If you want the best, go for the Pro S, it's one of the best oils on the market. If you want something decent, but about £30 less, the XTR is a really good choice for the money. Both are on offer with a litre free at the moment.

Yeah, the XTR is just as good, no problem there. At the moment it is very well priced as well :)
