As title taken from Motorsport news.

Peuogeot specialist Andy Baker is building the ultimate rally 205.

Spec will be as follows.

Engine.

1900cc Mi16 block bolted to an 8 valve head producing 235bhp 200ft torque.

Gearbox.

Six speed sequential box with electronic paddle shift.

Bodyshell.

Lightweight shell with Peugeot 205 Maxi rear arches , modifed floorpan to allow fitment of a rear beam from a 306.

Brakes.

330mm discs with 4 pot super 1600 calipers on front. Rear, 310 discs and 2 pot calipers.

Suspension.

Citroen C2R2 Max front hubs, 3 way adjustable shockers front and rear.

Steering.

Electric power steering system.

Wheels/ tyres.

17" rims and Michelin tyres.

Some of these things i have heard of but the engine spec i haven't.Also the C2R2 suspension is a new one on me.

What are your thoughts on this car, will it be the Ultimate 205.? Personally i am not so sure.

Surely the ultimate 205 is a Group B T16 ???

His current car is plenty quick enough! It's some piece of kit, and he can drive it. This might be the ultimate 205 for tarmac, but gravel??

why 8 valve? not sure on those power figures, thats around what sarty had from his 2.2!

would say something like guy wigleys ex works maxi would be more worthy of such a title if not the wrc or lemans cars myself

Bit strong to call it "Ultimate" maybe, his ideal spec perhaps. It'll be way down on power against most front running 2 litres and like just about every rally 205, will probably be relying on costly dampers to sort out basic geometry issues!

I doubt its the ultimate but if he can win events in it then thats what matters. Its still a serious bit of kit. Whatever happened to the guy on here who had the longmans engined rallycar? That was getting a dimma shell and fancy gearbox but had 40 more bhp?

I've seen it in it's current state; not looking very ultimate at the moment, poor thing, but the F2 kit shows promise I guess! The guy doing the shell work is a pure artist; I believe the same chap who does shells for Ken Block (I've seem some of his work which I best not talk about just in case, but the standards and effort these guys put in is mind boggling). "Ultimate"? Well, maybe if you put a lot of caveats on there... the "Ultimate clubman tarmac 205 with an 8 valve engine", maybe....! Wouldn't mind it myself, but would have to ditch that 8 valver to happily call it ultimate myself...

Don't get hung up on the 'Ultimate' moniker, everyone deems that different depending on what they want and it's intended use, i'm sure it's just a bit of PR/Journo Spiel anyway!

Was it Shiny who had his white 205 featured in a mag as the "ultimate" track 205?

I think at the end of the day "The Ultimate" is ultimately how much money some ones going to throw at it. Look at top sec rally -race cars, £100,000 + can do wonders no matter what make of car. !

I'm still here but not been on the forum for ages. Still got a selection of 205s but done very little with them recently.

Hoping one day to get my new rally car finished off but currently in the process of building an offshore powerboat for some marathon racing so the car has taken a back burner.

Good to see the same faces still on here!
