Kent Pt 28 Cam...anyone Used One?

Recommended Posts

Chris H

I've spotted a cheap pt28 cam and thinking of putting it in an engine i have.

Its a lightened and balanced 8v 1.9 bottom end, which i plan to fit 1.6 pistons to get the comp ratio up. Then i have a mint std head which i'll get some work done on and i have some proper (std dia) Group A wasted stem valves and double valve springs. The whole lot will be controlled by a weber alpha ecu and fed by 45mm TB's

I have all these bits already, just dont have a cam! Trying to make this a budget engine and wondered if this cam works well or its it a bit over the top. The engine will be used on a Stage rally car and i'll put it together myself.

Any feedback welcome, as are suggestions for other cams. Or if you have something else for sale, let me know.

Cheers

Chris

Skip brown recommend that cam, I went for the newman ph4 after a bit of research and recommendation by sandy seems a newer approach profile as the pt28 has been around a while, Fantastic profile but make sure you check the lobes clear inside the head, I had to relieve mine to clear.

Interesting that youve gone for the Newman P4 as that was the other cam i was considering. What made you decide between the two?

The Ph4 has a more modern profile compared to the pt28, I think it was Sandy who measured a load of cams a few years ago and the Ph4 came out with the most modern profile style. Think it was to do with valve acceleration etc. Drives really well with that cam though, very grunty. Oh and it was cheaper ;)
