matt.f 16 Posted August 7, 2011 Im going to be fitting Corsa EPS to my H reg 1.6gti(1.9 running gear) in the near future and and want to reduce the lock to lock of my manual rack(think they are about 3.5 maybe slightly more). Whats the easiest way to go about this, think ill need square drive to be easier to mate up with the corsa uj: 1-buy a Shenpar or quaife quick rack, although ive read about struggling to get new bearings to fit?? 2-xsara rack? 3-or other? cheers matt, done a search with no proper answer. maturin23 10 Posted August 7, 2011 My Xsara quick rack set-up is the best mod i've done, including 16v, http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=129040&st=0 http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=130031&st=20 Few from this search - http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&sa=X&ei=Sxk_TruYNIrChAeBmKSbBw&ved=0CBcQvwUoAQ&q=site%3Aforum.205gtidrivers.com+%22QUICK+RACK%22+XSARA+QUAIFE&spell=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=25febd5dbd16376a&biw=918&bih=
tri_longer 25 Posted August 8, 2011 Another vote for the Xsara rack, it's transformed the drivability of the car.
matt.f 16 Posted August 8, 2011 Cheers have replied on a few in the past, xsara seems to be the way to go.Was just wondering if anyone had a quick rack from quaife/shenpar.
Paul_13 212 1 Cars Posted August 8, 2011 I have a quaife jobby. It's real stiff low speed but when your moving it loosens up a fair. Bit of a pain if you cannot find a bearing. Ryan_stdt put the splined version into a square drive rack body. I think the hardest one to get the bearing for is the square drive version.
matt.f 16 Posted August 8, 2011 Thanks, not really bothered about it getting heavier because the corsa eps will be adjustable via a dash button. So a xsara rack will bolt straight on to a 205 subframe?with grinding a bit off so it doesn't foul the gear linkage?
