Bonnet Dimensions

Hi all. I had an incident with my 205 recently where the bonnet flew open at 70mph. Consequently the bonnet is mangled scrap (but thankfully the rest of the car is fine).

 

I'm looking to get a replacement bonnet (as per my "Wanted" post), and I've been looking at Ebay and so forth. The problem comes for delivery purposes - couriers like to know the dimensions of the parcels.

 

So if one of you kinda people could go and measure your bonnet (length, width, height) and let me know I'd appreciate it. I would measure mine, but the car is at a garage now awaiting a new bonnet. If anyone also knows the weight of a standard 205 bonnet that would be helpful too. Oh and if you know of a good bonnet (Graphite Grey preferably) bonnet go free please post on my Wanted post :

I also assume that (bar the automatic bonnet) all 205 bonnets are the same irrespective of model spec ?

Its approximately 129cms wide by 102cms long. Cant tell you the weight Im afraid, as my new bonnet is alread at the bodyshop waiting to be painted.

Worth bearing in mind that panels like bonnets are easily damaged in transit, and certainly I won't courier them and nor will I buy any that I can't collect.

 

Your choice obviously, but I'd strongly recommend that you buy one that is close enough for you to collect.

Ideally I'd agree with you there, especially as then I could see exactly what I was buying. Unfortunately its not an option - I can't drive my 205 at present and my only other car is an FTO and I can tell you now that a 205 bonnet ain't gonna fit anywhere in it, unless I stuck it to the roof

 

Doesn't really matter if it gets minor damage though, as to be honest it'll just be put on the 205 anyways - as long as it makes it legally driveable again I'm not that bothered.

 

One final last question though - are all 205 bonnets the same or do I specifically need one from a GTi model (mine is a 1993 L reg 1.9 GTi model) ?

Yes they're all the same apart from the auto exception you already mentioned.
