Head Gasket, Crank, Thrust Washers.

Hi All

I've had a few issues with my 2.0 turbo engine which have resulted in it needing a new crank. I have a few questions, I've been searching but can't find the exact info that I'm after.

I have a 2.0 HDI bottom end at my Parents. I believe the stroke is the same and the main journals are the same but I can't find any info on the con rod journals. Does anyone know if they're the same please?

When I removed the crank from the 2.0 turbo (RGX) I only found 2 Thrust washers. When I bought the replacements it was a pack of 4. Have I missed 2 somewhere or have I been given too many?

While the engine is out and in bits I've decided to fit a Multi layered steel head gasket from a GTI6. The compressed GTI6 gasket thickness is 1.2mm, does anyone know the compressed thickness of the RGX head gasket please? Or will it be too smaller difference to cause any issues?

Thanks, Dave.

afaik the dw10 crank will fit, its an 88mm stroke though (85mm bore)

there should be a pair of thrust washers either side of a mains cap and in the block

Cheers Mate. You're right, I hadn't noticed the thrust washers in the main cap.

One more question.

The torque settings say vertical and horizontal bolts for the mains caps but I'm unsure what this means?

there are 2 13 mm bolts that go into the central main bearing cap- one front- one rear from outside the block----if you have stripped it already you must have removed them to remove the cetre main cap!![discovered that myself the hard way!!]

There's not any there, not even any holes on the block or the cap. Could this be something that was only used on the ally engines and autodata have got it wrong?
