Battery Light Glowing On New Alternator

Recommended Posts

kyepan

Hi there,

noticed the battery light was glowing very dimly, prior to this i heard a belt type squeaking sound, only happens at higher revs on the motorway..

do i need to re-tension the belt?

ps it's a new (not reconditioned) alternator about 4 months ago.

cheers

J

If it makes noise go for a retention first.

i've changed the belt, and it's still doing it.

plus the glow is only visible when the lights are on, and pulses brighter when the indicator is on.

which earths should i be checking?

J

sounds like a poor connection somewhere, would certainly start by unvestigating the noise though

Is it still charging?

I had a 'new' one from GSF and after 2-3 months it gave up!

Mines does this to...after my alternator seized up and snapped the belt. Replaced the alternator and belt but every time im driving around at night with the lights on and heaters on the light comes on very faintly... turn the heaters off, and faint light disappears.
