Fitting Twin 45's

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I have just bought a set of twin weber 45's and would like to know if they can be set up to run on the mi16 (2 row ecu) management?

i have been looking into the megajolt ignition only management but no too sure about building this stuff myself as not done anything like this before, if possible i would like to run it on the motronic management for now but maybe a few months down the line when funds and the missis allow to go either megajolt or emerald etc

any help would be very helpful or links to anyones topic who's done this

Yes, you can run Mi16 management as an "ignition only" setup - Baz's old 309 Mi16 used to run like this so he'd probably be able to comment further on how well it worked, although logically without any form of load sensing (AFM in the case of Mi16 management) or WOT signal from the TPS, I can't see that it would give the correct advance across the board.

I'm not upto speed on Megajolt, but unless they've released the new one that they've been developing for a while (v4?) then it's worth noting that you can't use the standard Motronic 60-2 flywheel as a timing signal, as it needs a 36-1 (Ford) wheel and thus a seperate timing wheel on the crank pulley.

There's also numerous other ignition-only versions of ECU's, such as Emerald, Omex and DTA.

Most people just use an 8v dizzy and ignition setup as a cheap/easy solution, although that's clearly not optimal in terms of performance.

Take a look at megajolt, its quite straight forward, and reasonably well backed up with a forum, plus loads cheaper than omex etc.

cheers guys

had a read about the 36-1 wheel thing and didn't want to go down that path of having to make brackets and mount it on the outside etc so think i will hold out and see if they bring it out for the pug flywheel. will take a look at the other options as want something that could maybe be upgraded to TB at a later stage.

been reading abit about the whole wasted spark thing aswell and noticed cossie's use this too, is there a advantage to it being used in this way?
