Stripped Torx Head Bolts...what To Do

Recommended Posts

camgti

Finally get to removing the head tonight, get the T55 Torx bit to do the job, get the torch down the bolt holes to find a selection of male and female bolts!! Then, have a closer look and a few of the male bolts are stripped!!

How the hell do i get these off....

I'd just do what Tom suggested, I doubt you'll get enough torque through an extractor to undo headbolts especially if theyre stuck enough to round the heads off.

Had it happen before on a vauxhall engine done as Tom suggested and drilled head off.Once bolt head gone cylinder head could be pulled off and remainder of bolt screwed out with mole grips.

Thanks for the reply guys. I dont have the time or tools required to do it this way. Im going to take it to a machine hop and get them to do it so I dont stuff anything. The head is on a 88 X 87 XU10 bottom end so dont want to ruin it!

Cheers for the help, It should be in the shop by the end of this week so ill keep you all posted..
