Removing Aircon

Recommended Posts

is there any reason why i cant just remove the aircon rad and pipework leaving the pump to act as a tensioner[ it is on a 306 16v xsi autocross car] did a slalom and it runs hot with the crap in between the 2 rads and aircon is not wanted/working properly anyway!!

you'll need to get it degassed properly, but yes you can remove it.

If you are going to remove it I'd also lose the compressor, especially if you are autotesting, its a heavy lump.

I don't think any of it is a direct swap.

if i remove the pump is it just a case of fitting a non aircon belt or are there idlers/tensioners to fit as well?

If its like the gti6 ( which I cannot remember off the top of my head ) then yes you would need a belt, idle roller, a tension roller and a bolt to tension it. WP will know!
