Radiator Lowering Brackets

Anyone care to have a picture of what they made up in order to lower and move the rad enough for GTi6 inlet manifold clearance? :)

Thanks Matt.

That seems a fairly overkill movement primarily for extra space required for the Mi16.

I don't think I will need that much extra space and hoped there would be a couple of smaller mounts that would perhaps shim it out a bit.

I haven't even had a chance to get the bumper off yet and see exactly how it mounts, so when I see what I am up against I may be better off getting something custom made for my requirements.

you dont actually have to lower your rad for a gti6 conversion.

A bit of trimming of the radiator cowling is all that is required (although slam panel does need a little trim on the inside edge)

That's good news then, thanks.

I am just trying to get as much info and parts together before I plumb it all in as I would hate to fit the engine and then find out about several small easy jobs with the engine out that I could have done before hand. Uprated subframe mount is one. I would have kicked myself if I had put the engine in and got it running, then had to faff underneath afterwards.

What I did doesn't even warrant a picture - two short lengths of 2mm steel about 20mm wide, bend at 90 degrees so you've got 2 L's shaped brackets. Weld onto back of the front lower crossmember part of the bodyshell (where the original plastic brackets sat) at the right positions for the pegs on the bottom of the radiator. Drill some 12mm holes in them and job done :)

Thanks brumster.

I can't weld so will have to bolt the brackets through the cross member

As said, No need to lower or move the rad at all, Slam panel needs a couple of small cut outs and thats it
