Speedle Cable Replacement Any Point?

Recommended Posts

davey205

I have always had a wobble at low speeds but steady at 40+ but now she wobbles all the way up to 70. I have not heard great things about replacing of cables perhaps along the lines of was ok for a few weeks then wobbled like crazy, so the point of this post is asking if there is any point in replacing what are the pitfalls, any replacement make better / last longer than another whats the general consensus, has anybody perhaps had a non wobbler or do they all do it?!?

Speedle i just invented a new word , here and now i claim the rights

Yes i have and found the cable needed to be renewed. However yours could be the cogs as well, so you might be best to get the two new cogs and new cable. Remember to replace the ring seal on the speedo housing and grease it up. Also check how its attached at the back of the speedo itself.

ps, buy an original one from Peugeot, the non OE type have been known to wobble again after a few weeks.

engine killer

as per my experience, unplug the speedo cable from behind the clock and add a few drop of lubricant/engine-oil to the plug and let it drain down the wire (inside it). it worked and last time i oiled the cable was about 3 years ago and the speedo is still working fine now.

I always thought it was due to the cable running past the exhaust manifold, cooking the lubricant? As above, some high melting point grease should do the trick, I'd be tempted to try that first before forking out for a new one.

Speedle, I like it!
