My 205Gti6 Rr Results

Recommended Posts

stef205

hi all,

This morning i took my 205 down to the rolling road at Tipton garage nr sidmouth The engine made 161.9bhp at the flywheel and 118bhp at wheels. Is this the figure is should expect from a standard gti6 lump only mods are a filter and backbox. I was told i could have a fueling problem upto about 3000rpm, the fuel pump is noisey and was thinking off uprating it to help. Any comments would be appreiciated

Stefan

Maha LPS 3000 rollers I think? Flywheel figures are usually in the right area, but the way they measure wheel power is very different to others and confuses most people.

You sound as you know the place well? and yes they are those rollers. Ive ordered a walbro 255 fuel pump, the co was very weak about 0.5, i have a spare map sensor, would changing the pressure regulator to 3.5 bar help

Std pump is fine, even for a turbo engine so not worth up-rating as they run at 3 bar anyway and the flow is more than enough too, Power wise anything from 160 to 170 on a 6 engine is about right

I would qualify this in saying that a standard pump in good working order is fine - I have seen a few Phase 2 fuel pumps (not sure if the actual pump part itself is different or if it's just coincidence) that have clearly started to die and aren't flowing anything like what they should be, leading to the engine running lean at top end and feeling flat and well down on power. New fuel pump has fixed it each time, and there's never been anything visibly wrong like a blocked gauze etc and other than the car feeling distinctly flat the pump otherwise appears to work fine - no excessive noise etc.

My gti6 engine made 179bhp on at the fly wheel no cat free flow exaust. If the rolling road guy said you have a fueling problem and your pump is noisey they yes try a new pump.
