I think as i screw the last screw into the lion badge on the front, the very last job, the engine will fall out and all the panels will fall off.

The last time I said my car was "as good as done" both front bleed nipples sheared off.

So my 205 had it's Mot today........and failed! Track rod end, emissions and lights. That really annoyed me because I checked all the lights and they were working so I must have a really dodgy earth!

Emissions weren't a surprise as it's the first time i fired it up after 4 months off the road after having just fitted a Petert inlet cam. So it needs some work there!

The worst bit was the 2 pages of advisories!

Got the rebuilt gearbox back from the transmission folk last weekend and put it back into the rally car. Stripped and cleaned the brakes, fired it up, sorted the electrics and it went for an MOT last Monday. Failed on..... the brake hoses I forgot to tie back after cleaning the brakes!! Passed second time. Now I need to get it rally ready. Needs:

window film

fuel sampling valve

new belts

NSF wing tidied up

interior stripped and repainted

new low tension dizzy to coil lead

oils/fluids changed

suspension stripped/cleaned/checked/rebuilt

gear linkage adjusted

That;ll about do that.

Red car F375 has sat for a few weeks. I'll give it a run and clean this weekend if it stays dry.

Pugmanian Devil

Well lets start by saying my pug is back where it spends most of its life...(On axle stands) 5 moths ago a valve seat decided to fall out and damage everything inside that chamber. For the past 5 months ive been chasing parts re - spraying the engine bay (again), re - painting calipers (again), powder coating sub frames and engine brackets...etc im almost to the point of having all the engine components back so hopefully in the next couple of weeks i'll be turning that key and hearing that sweet sound again :P

The engine was producing 170bhp on a dyno dynamics RR as it was before the incident with the valve seat, using a piper 285, throttle boddies with omex 600 ecu, ported and polished big valve head, lightened and balanced bottom end, 83mm forged pistons, steel con rods, superlite TTV flywheel... it drove real nice until the valve seat started to tick, and having my luck, the week i was going to take the head off, on start up getting it in the garage the valve seat disslodged and and took out the liner, piston, and pitted the heads chamber, bent the inlet and exhaust valve

This time round i have a 12.49mm lift 292 degree kentcam and double valve springs going in the head, managed to source a large inlet valve to suit (thanks to Brett Sims) the head was alloy welded and re - shaped, valve seats were replaced and re - cut. As for the bottom end i wasnt able to get a replacement 83mm forged piston so had to buy a set of 83.5mm ones due to availability so have had my standard liners bored out to suit, with the CR set to 11.25:1 the crank has had new ACl bearings along with the big ends, and the thrust washers replaced. all im waiting for is to get a few bits back from a couple places and its assembly time! :)

That sounds about right :)

My 205 is currently serving as my car of choice while my "expensive" (to me at least) "new" (these things are relative!) Subaru sits on the drive :)

Current plan if I can pull it all off is to drive the Scooby over winter while the Pug is resprayed and somewhat restored. Hoping for at least another 10 years good service out of the 205 and 20 if I'm still around then.

Mine is sitting patiently in my garage waiting for me to take it for it's weekly spin sometime over the weekend. It missed me last weekend as I was away.. Not as much as I missed it though!

Yeah bad times. I remember your post when it happened. Hadn't you just had it resprayed prior to the crash too?

Yeah, it had a full, glass out, engine out respray about 8 months before the crash. Was pretty gutting but the only concelation is that it will come back better and mintier when it does grace the road again.

My project thread is fairly up to date, and shows the first respray and the progress since :)

Been working away on the rally car recently:

Back north to the parent's house

ec4.jpg

Rusty wing removed. Very roughly removed rust, filled, primered and painted

ec3.jpg

Lifted the aluminium chequer plate that I knew had been hiding grot and rot to find this:

ec5.jpg

Cleaned that out and painted the inside (quality hammerite white!!)

ec2.jpg

and back together for now

Quite a few bits i need to do with mine over the colder months:

Bought a recon starter off Miles, so when that's delivered fit that and see if it cures my occasional non start issue if it's a sticking solenoid or find whether it's a dodgy immobiliser connection (just as likely).

Cure the slight leak from the passenger side rear window in heavy rain & also possibly from the sunroof trim on the rear passenger side as the headlining occasionally feels a bit damp.

Trial fit the OMP exhaust i bought of Baz and see what it looks/sounds like.

Refurb the recently purchased Speedline Corse 2118 alloys ready to be fitted when the weather improves.

Finally deal with the small amount of surface rust on the inside boot floor which has been there since i bought the car.

Boringly - have to pay for the insurance at the end of October.

Also recently managed to source a pair of Motaquip wishbones with the Kleber bushes for a lower than expected price. Even though the car doesn't need them changing, at least i've got them for the future incase they get NFP'd.
