The "whats Going On With Your 205?" Thread

Recommended Posts

My 205 is finally back with me, in its new home, a double longitudinal garage, the major plus point of the new house ive just moved into :)

No progress on the 205, as such, but getting the car, and all the boxes and boxes of parts I have back in one place together is a major milestone. Am busy getting the garage organised, its cleaned and painted, have built a workbench, installed an Aco drain to keep it dry. Once the house is done I can crack on with the car in September :)

That's a dream garage to have!

I guess it's out of the city (Bath)?

Thanks :) Its a couple of miles from Bath city centre, in one of the more suburban areas. City living would be awesome, but very unlikely to get a garage, so this was a good compromise lol!

A couple of miles is nothing!

I plan coming round to Bath in mid-end of August so if you are around then it would be good to meet! I will have my 205 then :)

Mine has been sat on the driveway since may, I'm waiting for my inlet cam to arrive from Australia which has had a stage 1 regrind from Petert! Whilst I'm waiting I've got some vernier pullies and have re-conditioned my lifters. Can't wait for it to be back on the road!

Mine's had a head in the recent months. Then a few weeks ago the drveshaft and gearbox went so had that sorted now running ok. Apart from the usual little things not worth a mention.Need to patch up the leaky sunroof as I can't find a replacement at the moment. Some bubbling under driver door needs attention, as and when I get round to that. Gave the trims some plasticare and then waxed her al over.

I just leapt in my (currently) spot on phase 1 this morning and did a mere (but very enjoyable) 25 miles round local country lanes!!!!!

Race car however remains in garage trickle charging, but in reality requiring an engine refresh when funds allow :(

My plans to convert to gti6 fell through and the s16 is almost ready to go again after almost a year off the road. Pretty much every front suspension part has been changed including all new bushes and engine bay area all repainted/powdercoated.

Jobs still to do: solder wiring back together, bleed brakes, connect radiator. Then fit bonnet and bumper.

Its not been easy but no matter what, i will get this car back on the road.

Great to hear what everyone else is up to.

Currently looking like this..

Tackling some major front end rust issues, fitting a new engine and gearbox, GTi6 dampers and -30mm springs, little bit of paintwork, new trims and bumpers and a general tidy up! Aiming to be back in one piece in 2 weeks time - watch this space.

Mine is on the road but rarely gets used (once every couple of weeks), MOT coming up sometime soon. My commute simply doesn't contain roads that suit the 205, it becomes hard work rather than fun :(

Really needs a bit of TLC to sort out loads of niggling jobs that have built up over the last few years but it is largely as fine as ever. Still never stranded me in 12+ years of ownership. Always got other stuff to do though so the 205 tends to get a bit neglected.

Nothing major happening, would love to solve intermittent starting issue (have tried most of the usual fixes)

Just paid for another 12 Months VED, hoping to use it more and will be taking it along to a car show or 2 in the next couple of months.

Just got both of the 205's MOT'ed today and they passed with virtually no advisorys :)

The 205 Cti cost me a new battery after spending the last 2 weeks trying to work out the starting problem, even though the battery was brand new before I parked it up 2 years ago. Probably get parked up again for another 2 years  or sell it to make way for another convertible ( 307 cc 180bhp)

Going to run the 205 TT over summer and have some fun in it -_- Now that the studying is over :P . Had fun driving down to the mot station this morning :) against a 190 bhp celica, down the twisty country lanes (12 Miles to Mot station)

Baz

Who's mapping this Baz and what's the spec? Post the results when ready!

I shall do! A friend who owns TCS Performance and I are mapping it on his DD rollers, he's just up the road from me in Birchanger, Essex, so perfect really. :)

Basic engine spec is;

Longman GpA 1927cc 8v.

Jenvey 45's

DTA ecu

Longman spec'd Maniflow 4-2-1 & system

Custom loom & lots of help from Anthony (thankyou!!)

Hoses from Stew@ BakerBM.com

A few bits & help/support from Miles @ PugRacing.com

As long as it's more tractable than the previous incarnation on carbs/dizzy (won't be too hard!), goes well & sounds sexy, i'll be happy!! Need to get it in service again so i can continue this season in it! My 1.6 in the current class (Road-going up to 2litre) i'm competing in is doing admirably; 2nd in one championship, 3rd in the other,(done less events!) but certainly is a little under-powered & this one would be pretty damn perfect for the class! :D

Miami 1.9 - Still at my dad's sprayshop about a year and a half later, waiting on a respray.

Graphite XS - At my dad's sprayshop waiting for repairs, needs the passenger side front pulled back into shape, also needs new wing/bonnet/valance painted and then built back up.

Once I get my 205's back from him, they'll never be going up there again, that sprayshop/yard is like a black hole in space and time for my cars!!

I love my sunroof, always use it, doesn't leak and I'm led to believe it has no effect on handerling!

Waiting on front panel pieces, all of them.

It ran for the first time in 2 years after a motronic conversion, then i took it apart again to repair all the rust. Passenger inner wing has had some major surgery to cut out all the rust and the wing now fits back on again. Got an automatic bonnet that needs prep and paint, a few holes to weld up on the floor and needs new brake lines waiting to be fitted.

But pictures speak a thousand words. its depressing.

Exhaust gave up the ghost a fortnight ago, made my wallet significantly lighter but back on the road now. The list never ends but as long as I smile when driving it I'm happy!

Stored in a field up the mountain locally waiting for my cashflow to improve :(

annoyingly it runs bloody fine and all the suspension has been sorted, just needs discs all round and the typical front inner wings and lower 1/4 panel grot sorting :(

405 is parked next to it needing the rear screen re-sealing and the interior re-fitting, then discs all round as they're shot from being sat then there's no reason it wont pass an MOT as it did 2k since the last one, should have a belt as that's 5 years old but only 8k miles <_<

My CTi touch wood is just enjoying being my daily driver at the mo. Not missed a beat in months and its covered some serious mileages. I will be off the road from October tho as project Dimma TT starts then.

Plus a rear beam re-build and big brake conversion. I’ll be starting a tread so watch this space :)

I’ll be back in the 309 GTi then. Its just a 205 with a boot....
