New Starter

Just a quick one, I've got a new GTI6 starter on order at work for £60 inc. VAT. I thought it was fairly cheap then saw this used unit on eBay,

For that money I don't really see much of a choice, is it worth getting a new one whilst everything is stripped down? I know there's nothing saying that the used unit will last more than 2 days, but for that amount of money it's quite a difference.

I got one off the gti6 forum for £20 delivered. You never know but the 'new' one you get might only last a couple of years and the second hand much longer. You will never know but I just went with a second hand unit.

Well as far as I'm aware I only need the solenoid (it broke off) so I guess I can be a real tight arse and try and get someone to sell me just the solenoid?

Have you still got an original "fat" bodied starter motor? If so, use this as a good opportunity to get rid before it causes you problems...
