If it is losing pads check that the cast carrier itself isn't worn. I have seen this in the past and no amount of fitting kits will sort it. Happens when the anti rattle springs are missing or fitted wrong, the pad then rattles about in the carrier wearing it out. The carrier bolts on so if it is this just get a better one from another caliper and bolt it on.

the carrier is or apears to be fine but ill check it again

ive not had chance to fit a new fitting kit on it yet, just running bits and odds what i had laying about lol

id like to get a completely new set and hopefully have it sorted once and for all

is there no motor factors online that will sell them??

i know the ones in york dont

i did a search on the 306 forum which sent me to a motorfactors online which was very confusing and came up with a audi fitting kit,odd

i had this same problem with one of my 205s and a new fitting kit sorted it

springs at the top, securing bar at the bottom, bit of lockwire helps retain the bar if you want to be sure it wont fall out.

I lockwire the pad locking bar in on my track day 205 after having the bar and pads get free at Cadwell Park. This was due to a worn carrier as I mentioned above, but I now lockwire them in on the track car just to make sure. Only an hours job to drill and lockwire both sides.

Check the pads too, I had a 1.6 front set with the edges worn so even with new sliders etc the pads where almost coming out with the wheel off

I will second this. I had a pad fall out on the rear of my 106.

My local factor carries the fitting kit, although i always ask for Saxo VTS rather than 306 since its the same calipers and confuses them less. Its about £6. I have an empty one in the car so i'll get a part number when i get a chance.

EDIT - scratch that, i should've read it all before i replied!
