New Shell Previous Was A Cat C.

Recommended Posts

well a little gutted this morning as i had the v5 through for my new shell and on the bottom it said substaintiallly damaged and vic checked in 2010.

now i bought the shell from james on here and -would like to add he knew nothing about this- as the v5 he had (which was in his name) had nothing printed on it??

i paid for a hpi check and it came back as a cat c for nsf damage which matches up with a slightly dented wing and missing trim, i assume this would be enough to write it off? the bloke on the phone said it may have been a third party claim and they wanted to settle quickly?? who knows.

where do i stand with insurance and the like? i know i have to declare it but will it make a difference to my premiums etc? and i guess to overall value of the car in years to come.

also turns out it had a private plate from the factory- f949upu??

First off I would not worry about it, my red 205 came to me with very light damage to the wing and a bonnet a slightly different colour. It was also Cat C as I only found out when I transferred the logbook from the previous owner.

I fitted a new wing, if I am being very very picky it could do with a headlamp panel on one side as it is very slightly back, but I'm loathe to cut off an otherwise solid rot free panel that isn't causing any problem.

Premium is no different as far as I know, I think the only problem would come if someone ran into you and you needed to claim, as you would get a reduced payout.

Premiums indeed no different, I wasn't asked about it at all when looking for insurance.

If it was cat c whilst in James's ownership that would explain why it did not show on the V5, if it was previous to that I don't know why it wasn't on James's V5.

My ZX's V5 only shows cat C as I had to change my address, if I hadn't then any future owner would have had to HPI or ask me.

there is very minimal wing damage, just where the arch would fit.

no damage to the light panels, bonnet or anything.

it was vic checked on th 17/05/2010 so cant understand why it wasnt on the v5? im 100% it didnt say anything on there as i always check.

im not too bothered but just a little gutted as i wanted to make this one nice...it kind of tarnishes it a little
