2.0 8V Turbo Wiring Queries

Recommended Posts

dave205

Few more queries so i can finish making my wiring connections, here goes:

Where abouts is the oil level switch on these engines and can i connect that up to the low oil pressure light, that way if i have either low oil pressure or low oil level it will bring the light up and tell me i have an oil related problem of some description.

Where abouts is the oil temp sender on the 406 engine as the 205 clocks have a oil temp meter but i dont know what to connect to them?

temp, level is in the middle of the block, front on the 16v's, rear of the 8v iirc.

The oil thing left on the wiring side of things i need to sort is to locate the oil temp sender on the engine, any ideas?

Tested that sender out and it is for oil level indication. I still need to find out were the oil tempreture sender is though its stopping me tidying the wiring up, ive looked all over the engine but cant for the life of me find it!!!

Well thats what i thought, because i checked the drawing and its shown as a one pin plug and it was in the loom, but when i stripped all the tape off it fell out and im not sure where from :( . The only one pin plug on the engine now is the oil pressure switch.

Is this anyway i can utilise the oil tempreture meter on the gti clocks to read the oil level?

only if you use BX gti clocks or a VERY rare set of 205 clocks that has that facility.

i have a blue sensor on the front of the sump with a 1 pin connection on it and also one just above it on the block iirc with a 2 pin connection but not sure what they are

blue in the sump is the oil temp sensor as mentioned SEVERAL times.

two pin on the block is likely to be the pressure switch if its a small body, or a large round bodied sender will be for an oil pressure gauge, though as the turbo engine was only in the 605 406 xantia and xm, they never used pressure gauges and rarely had oil temp gauges.

haha sorry i didnt look at previous messages just i had a quick look at my engine and seen them  think the 2 pin sensor is a large bodied sensor but its too dark to go look now

Thinking about it, there was a plate on the engine with a blank plug on it so i reckon thats where that plug was on.

Did some 205 clocks have oil level gauges on them did they?

quite rare and damn unreliable in the 205 apparently, seems fine in my ZX though.

was the front up in the air? that'll be the driveshafts rotating ;)

rev counter required modifying or an adapter.

Yeah approximately 12-14 inches on axle stands, it was in in neautral though. Ive fitted a electro-mechanical vss and wired it up, but still nothing, or does recieve a signal from the tdc reader?
