2.0 8V Turbo Wiring Queries

Recommended Posts

Few queries on the wiring side of my conversion, i have searched and cant find anything that answers my questions.

I have the 2 brown multi plugs removed from the 205 loom and ive tagged and identified where they run to, i have the 406 engine loom, with all the ends that were connected to the 2 round plugs, identified and tagged, im just starting to look at what needs connecting to what, but i assume this will get all the clock functions working properly, providing i connect it up correctly . What else needs to be done/connected to get everything up and running, i.e. feeds from the ignition barrel to the battery/starter? power to the ecu? earths?

This is what ive done so far:

Brown multipliug 1

Pin:

1 cable 52 connects to c12

2 cable 53 connects to 220

3 cable 47 connects to 400

4 cable 47a connects 400/401?? unsure on that one

5 cable 7a alternator connects to 1072/1070 unsure again

6 cable 30 oil pressure meter, no idea what this connects to

7 cable 30a oil pressure meter connects to 412

8 cable 30B oil pressure light connects to 410

9 cable 2 is a switched live with so far is only connected to the VSS

Brown multiplug 2

Pin:

1 cable 47b coolant fluid level, unsure

2 calbe 76 fuelpump unsure

3 cable M47B coolant fluid level unsure

4 cable 112 RPM meter connects to 426

5 cable 74 k-light, unsure and i dont even know what this is!

6 cable 46 starter motor unsure

Need some help with these and anything else that needs doing/connecting.

Help much appreciated!

Get/use a DVM and test which wires go where if your unsure of wire diag's then at least you'll know what wires go where

I think pins and multi meter are the way to go mate.

Right, here we go. Multimeter ready?

Start with the double relay, iirc you can see the pin numbers if you pull back the rubber cover under the double relay.

You need to run permanant lives to relay pins 8, 11, 14, 15.

You need to run a switched live to relay pin 2.

Relay pin 9 needs to go to the fuel pump wire in the 205 (the 205 wire is white 76)

Also relay pin 3 needs to go to ecu pin 27 (it may already be connected, I can't remember)

Now the ECU pins.

You need a permanant live to ecu pin 18. You need to earth ecu pin 47.

You need to connect up the blue wire (46b iirc) from the brown multi plug to the starter solenoid wire.

This is enough to get the car running. You'll still need to connect up the gauges and speed sensor etc but you don't need to worry about those just yet.

Hope this helps, Dave.

Again some top quality advice, so cheers.

Made some good progress today on this another couple of hours and i should be ready to fit the engine loom and try and run it, and then make my lenghts off and generally tidy it all up.

just a quick one, pin 47 on the ecu is already earthed is that correct?

Are there any other final things i need to do?

Yes.

Make sure you check all the Fluids before starting up.

What about all the cables in the 406 loom that go to the engine fuse box? where do they go and what cables run to the little black box behind the headlight on the 205?

Few more things im unsure of! Ive connected up everything i can on my conversion but im still left with a list of cables im unsure what to do with, im hoping to run it at the weekend, finally :), i.ll then tidy it all up next week.

Here's the list, ive identified all the numbers:

415/414 oil level sensor, no level sensor on the 205 clocks?

1223 55/56

8081

108

1368

822

122 engine fusebox to cable 55-56

123 to engine fusebox to oxygen sensor

unknown cable number but it goes to the engine diag tel/tale

1322 cable 56 to the ecu

808

821

C02E passenger Fusebox to water in fuel systems

140+141 test connector

I assume most of these need leaving as they are and dotn connect to anything?

Any help much appreciated!!

im taking the numbers above as wires that came on the turbo loom?

1322 on a 406 loom according to autodata is for injector #2

821 goes to keypad/imob

i have cable 123 going to fuse which is then cable 122 splitting off to imob, TC wrv and Purge valve cannister

Yeah on the turbo loom.

1322 doesnt test back to injector number 2 on my loom?

How do i ensure the ecu doesnt become immobilised again?

Whats the tc wrv?

Did you just not connect all the others in your loom?

jonnyturbo

turbo charger wastegate regulating valve

you can lock it again somehow iirc but not sure maybe someone else could answer that.

checked diagram for xantia again as im not sure what loom you have and wire 1322 goes to injector 2 again but if you had the full loom and not cut any connectors off then im sure it will be right?

426/425 wire is the only other one that goes to the data connector

c02e goes from imob and then splits off to (mil warning lamp) instrument pannel and fusebox, guessing its a warning light/K light not sure about if i have connected or not.

822/821 go to imob/keypad

8081, 108 and 808 i cant find on the diagram

I'll re-check cable 1322 tommorow, what do i need to do with data connecter cables, all the others just shrink wrap them up and leave them?

Im sure ive read if you put power on the wrong cable it will re-immobilise the ecu? And also co2e i cant connect to the k-light as i dont have one.

pin 55 and 13 of the ecu are the data connect wires but someone on here has a 3 pin data plug where as mine is 2 pin and like i said i had it plugged in twice with snapon and it wouldnt find anything. everything else you dont need cut and tape up.

I'll trace those pins out aswell then later, and start tapeing and shrinking the others.

thats some good info, cheers. Also when you say the data connector what do you do with it? leave it or connect it to something?

i have fitted my turbo

engine last night and wired it up,

it will run if i spray easy start into the manifold but the ecu wont fire the injectors. Could this be the keypad immobiliser?

i have got the keypad which came with the loom and i have the code, can anyone help me out with the wiring of the keypad so i can get this car running .... thanks

If it runs on easy start it has a spark so it is 100% not immobilised.

Seeing as you don't have clocks or the fuel pump powering up is everything connected properly at the shunt box? (the black box on the slam panel)

Are all the fuses OK in both the shunt box and the fuse box?

Is the earth for the fuel pump OK? It is behind the passenger rear light accessed through the side of the boot.

clocks wise i have no idea but as far as i know for the fuel pump the live for fuel pump comes from the relay or at least mine does anyway.

bobo wiring diagram here

Yeah mines the same aswell
