Is there any way to replace C.V. boots, the outer boots are starting to split and the haynes manual says they`re only servisable by peugeot dealers, is there any way to do them myself? by the way Peugeot want £30 but my local motor factors sell 205boots for £14

It's easy to do, the time consuming job is removing the shafts, and that's not hard.

Totally do-able, the only ball acher is you have to strip and remove the inner joint spider and boot to replace the outer boot, as the outer joint on the 1600 shafts doesn't split off the shaft.

I did both other boots in about half an hour a month or so ago. I used universal fit boots and a fitting cone. Like found here -http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-205-DRIVESHAFT-BOOTKIT-BOOT-KIT-GAITER-CONE-/130467499755?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e60780eeb

I've always found soaking the boot in on really hot water for a while before you fit it helps it stretch easier. Grease the cone up well, turn the boot inside out and pull on over the joint. No need for to remove the shaft. It's just a matter of pulling it out of the hub and pushing the strut to side.

I used stretchy boots and a drinks bottle with the bottom cut off as I didn't have a cone. Just remember to turn the boots inside out before you slide them over.

last time i did one i used a compressed air boot strecher you put the cv boot over it plug the air line and it blows the boot up and you just slip it over the joint best thin ever
