Cannot answer precisely, but I was asked what type when I bought oil and filter at dealers. Think one has a rubber inner and the other is a larger one, but not 100%. Seemed to be be date dependant, like early or later type.

If you go to Halfords and get a HSP601 for £2.49 it has a new sump plug, copper washer and the other type of seal. I used the copper version.

Depending on the age of the engine / sump you might also find it has either a 14mm or 16mm sump plug but both use the correct size copper washers.

Dowty washer is just as good really, they are used on hydraulics at high pressure so keeping oil in a sump under little or no pressure is no issue.

Early ones use sump washer 016430, later ones use 031327, both of which are copper crush washers (the earlier being the larger). Most of the peugeot mechanics i have seen service them replace the later one with a steel washer with the rubber inner which is part 016488. All of the above is Mi-16s, ii've not had many dealings with the 8vs.

Yes, my 1998 306GTI6 needed the 16mm one and was a copper crush type. Im not sure yet what my VTS engine for 205 needs its a 1999, so i assume it would be the same size. I think they changed to the smaller size on the later phase's.
