Coil Pack Advice

Hey guys I finally started work on my new mi16 RWD mid engine project. I've spent the last two weeks tidying up and sorting the wiring out.

 

I've got the ECU / engine talking to eachother and my next job is the ignition system.

 

Currently it looks like whoever had the project before me installed what looks like a coil pack per cylinder system. This is not working and does not fit properly so I've looked into it and from doing a search on this forum I found that a 106 coil pack and corsa 16v leads will do the job.

 

Anyone know what model 106 coil pack I need and I'm guessing I will need to rip out the wiring to the emerald ECU and wire it again? The ECU is already set to wasted spark so it should work correctly?

 

If anyone has a wiring diagram for the 106 coilpack to emerald that would be super

The coilpack that you want is fitted to just about every 8v TU engine in a 106/Saxo, together with most TU 306's, 1.8/2.0 8v 306/405/ZX/Xantia's etc, and other non-PSA cars too.

 

Wiring is very simple - one ignition feed, and then two feeds from the ECU to fire the coil. Emerald already has the drivers onboard for this. Can't remember the pinout for the coil off the top of my head, but I have it at home if you get stuck, and the Emerald manual lists which pins to connect the coil to (labelled "Ignition 1" (for cyl 1+4) and "Ignition 2" (for cyl 2+3)

 

Depending how your current loom has been wired, it may already be correct and just need the appropriate connector fitting - you'll have to check.

I'll pickup a new coil pack next week rather than get a 2nd hand one thanks for the advice on that.

 

Any idea what corsa 16v leads are best suited to fit the coil pack and the mi16 engine? I'll also get a set of them

That looks like the right coil to me.

 

The leads you want are from a Corsa B (1996-2000) 1.6 16v model IIRC

Anyone know what wire on the coil pack goes to what pin on the emerald or maybe just what each wire is on the coil pack.
