Engine Refitting?

Recommended Posts

smithy

going to be refitting my engine soon and was wondering if it is possible to fit engine and gearbox all together from the top?

to remove i took box off first but if it can be done in one go it would speed things up when putting back together.

currently have bumper, radiator and battery tray out so got good space in the bay.

Yeah, it'll go in, you can do it with the battery tray in (I did once ) or remove the battery tray and it's far easier.

much easier if you have an engine leveler/tilter for fitting engine and box attached.

thanks both for the replies

i know what you mean about the leveller i am usin a chain so was thinking of hooking it up so box tilts down slightly so i can get under arch then use trolley jack to level up as i drop the engine in to position.

will be giving it a shot next week weather permitting.

A load leveller is only about 20 quid I think.

I use ratchet straps then i can vary the angle of the whole lot. Also helps having another person to jig it round!
