How Much Oil Is In The Oil Filter?

Recommended Posts

Will Eastman

I have drained the engine oil but am going to leave the oil filter attached as it is very new, i need to know how much oil will be left in the filter so i know how much to add. The reason I need to know is because i dont know weather the dipstick i have is correct. My plan was to drain the engine then refill it with 5L of oil then check the dipstick.

Any help would be much appreciated as i would like to get the car back up and running to use tonight.

Thanks guys

5ltr is for oil and filter change if you are leaving the filter i would put in a touch over 4.5ltrs.

personally for a couple of quid i would be putting a new filter on then just put in the 5ltrs

No, just whip it off, put thumb over quickly and put in new item. Jobs a fish.

no removing the pressure switch will allow oil in the gallery to escape just have the new one ready to fire straight in.
