Bent Valves

Does anyone have an idea of how to check if my engine has bent valves without taking the head off and the engine isnt in the car.... :wacko:

A very crude way to tell if they're bent enough to give you low/no compression is to turn the engine over with a spanner and "feel" each compression stroke - it'll be quite obvious if one (or more) cylinders is obviously amiss. Otherwise, you could just bolt a gearbox and starter onto it along with a bit of oil in the sump and compression test it that way

Plus depends on how badly they are bent, You can whip the cam cover off and see what lifters don;t return on the compression stroke
