Gti 6 Conversion

Hi

I'm looking for some advice about my engine conversion.

The engine that I've put into my current 205 was in an old 205 that I had, engine removed due to shell being rotten. Engine sat in my shed for about 18 months and has recently been put into my current 205. Searched through the forum here and have found quite a few topics on this conversion, but having tried a few suggestions it's still not running quite right!

Here's the issues:

- On starting the engine idles high

- And while driving seems to be lacking a lot of the power that it had in the previous 205.

I've checked and double checked the wiring and can't seem to find a problem there. I've checked for air leaks and changed the manifold gasket but can't seem to get it to idle properly. I've wired up the diagnostic plug but it won't communicate with my diagnostic tool. I've tested most of the sensors, which all seem to be working fine according to Autodata.

Any suggestions for assistance would be most welcome!!!

Cheers Paul

Try a new idle control valve? May cure high idle. Might help

Reset the ecu correctly? Here

Thanks for the reply, I'll try resetting the ecu tomorrow. I tested the idle control valve according to Autodata and the resistance is within tolerance so should be no problems with it. Can't understand how it is lacking so much power when it was running so well in the other car, any possibility that I've missed a live or an earth somewhere?!

Cheers

Paul

Don't think it would run if you missed a live/earth. Try cleaning up all the earth points may make a difference.

Are you running a lambda sensor?

Not got a lambda sensor wired in yet but it never had one when the engine was in the other 205 and it went fine

Still no joy with this problem,

I've checked feeds and earths going to ecu. autodata say's pins 13,35,52 should be live but i am getting nothing at 35 and 52, these wire's come from the double relay, i have changed the relay and still nothing

I have re-checked all my wiring and cant find anything wrong.

has any one ever had the same problem or know what i've done wrong?

Cheers paul

Air leak on resonator box, new plugs,

I bet you its also timed up wrong, the lower pulley tends to slip in the rubber over time, use a alloy 8v lower pulley to time it up and then fit the 16v item.

Resonator box was removed when the engine was in the other 205 and the hole has been blanked off. i have fitted new spark plugs before the engine was put in.

I marked all the timing pullys before removing the old belt but i will double check it, but that wont explain why i am missing live's to the ecu

Cheers paul
