What Speedo Drive Unit For Xu10 Turbo

Im after some advice regarding, the speedo drive fitted to my xu7 gearbox, its a normal cable type one, but the one fitted to the original ma 406 box had a 2 or 3 pin plug ( cant remember exactly) do i need to fit this one or a similair one into my gearbox, to get the speedo to read?

 

Please ignore my ignorance but my assumption would be that aslong as the speedo cable is connected both ends, it will read?

The 205 speedo needs a mechanical cable drive

 

The 2.0 Turbo management ideally needs an electronic speed signal to run properly.

 

There are some "hybrid" speedo drives out there that have both mechanical and electronic speedo drives on them, and that's what you need. They're found on a few early 90's PSA cars, such as 306 XSi/S16 models and some TU's, or they frequently pop up on eBay brand new for about £30-40 or so.

Maybe they dont realise or know what the prices used to be. Unless the stock of them is getting low due to the amount of conversion etc.

usually the more pug sells the more the prices will come down. i think its more likely people making a quick buck which is ever evident on ebay nowadays inner wing metal water pipes are one that springs to mind, 14 quid from a dealer, over 20 on ebay
