Is This The Correct Top Mount For Turbo 205

Recommended Posts

Death_Machine

Hi, I recently snapped my bottom mount on my car to find out that when i welded it back together to the same as before in noticed that rather than keep the engine still, The weight of the engine was on it rather than stopping it from twisting in the bay. So i looked at the top mount and it seems to be sitting very low in the side rubbers as if it was the wrong one im unsure what it need or should look like as i only ever had 1.9 gtis and a 205 mi16 so bit unsure as to what it should be like. it also sounds like i got a slight grinding noise from drive sharft as sounds like under pressure or something? few pic's follow views????

Car needs alot of love and tidying up but im getting there! I hope.

Hmm something is very amiss there, Either someone fitted one of those horrid RS2000 mounts which drops the engine or the top mount has totally broken up, The arm should be in the middle of the buffers

The RS2000 mount was the first thing to pop into my mind too.

A 205 gti mount mate, we are talking about the rubber part not the engine bracket arm.

I'd support the engine and undo the 5 bolts/nuts in your pic and check the condition of it first. Then take it from there.

if you put that onto a standard 205 rubber mount your gonna run into a host of problems with the boost pipes fouling the master cylinder for a start. i bet its been lowered so the turbo can be squeezed in and the downpipe to fit. i think your gonna swear, alot, when you have it back at its right height.

edit:

it maybe worth checking the gearbox mount hasnt been bodged as the engine looks quite straight in the bay.

I have the xu10 turbo in my 205 an I have a group n 205 gti top mount. I had to modify the turbo piping to clear the master cylinder. The plastic pipe u can see in the photo just touching theaster cilinder will need heating and moulding. I used a blow tortch and a metal pipe to mould mine. 205 gti top mount is definitely the one to use though.

Thanks again guys I'll get a new 205 top mount and see where we go from there, As I would like it to be right as track use will be a def in the future. I've seen problem areas that might arise think it might have to be a call to dp for love connector as I'm gonna have big problems with turbo inlet pipe and keeps coming off as it is and turbo to bulk head steering knuckle anyway guys thanks once again I'll let you know how I get on!
