Fitting The Mi16 Push Clutch,

Recommended Posts

SurGie

Are the torque setting for fitting the 'push clutch' the same as when fitting the pull clutch, and are there any other things that are different to the pull type clutch when fitting the push type ?

I know about the selector arm and fitting the release bearing on the push splines etc.

Cheers :)

I ask because the pull clutch would need the bolts tightened with more torque i guess due to more stress on the bolts due to the constant pulling. Then i dont want to over tighten the push type clutch bolts if you see what i mean ?

Or does it not matter due to thread lock etc ?

I guess im being over analytical again.

Any help appreciated :)

It would have taken you less time to quickly look up the torque value in there then it would to have typed up that post <_<

It's clearly listed as 7lbft for the clutch cover to flywheel bolts, which works fine, although I personally do them up tighter than that as that as it always seems a little low to me and my torque wrench doesn't even go down that low. Indeed, I'm not personally convinced those bolts really need to be accurately torqued - a simple well-judged nipping up is usually about right.

What I do, never had a problem.

The clutch is for the 405 MI16, the engine is for the Xsara/306 which is why i posted this thread

Regardless of what engine/box/flywheel/car, the thread diameter/pitch/material is all the same, hence uses the same torque value.

However more to the point unless you have had your torque wrench calibrated recently its probably wrong anyway, so all this worrying over a ft/lb or two is a waste of time as you don't know how tight you are really doing them anyway.

Iv barely used my torque wrench and always set it back to zero as soon as its been used.

I thought it wont be any different but i needed confirmation before i fit it all, cheers.
