Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Any help much appreciated here - Background - Car starts fine always except very odd time when running long time may spin quite a bit before it starts.

Secondly twice the car has diede when being driven hard and fast fully loaded - car just stops and wont start.

Firstly fuel pump is pumping while cranking as i can feel it but i have no spark. Secondly i have no spark coming from distributor side of king lead.

Now after messing about and spending 45mins stopped car restarts and it may not happen for six months.

I personally feel heat is affecting the problem now here is where i need advice where do i go to

- king lead

- coil

- ignition amp

Or wiring

Cheers guys

personally i would change coil and amp as these are most likely culprits and then see how it goes.

Yes if these are not so expensive maybe best buy new ones plus new ht leads and be finished with it.

Anyone try those sub 20pound silicone leads from ebay?

Changed coil and it seemed to solve problem till driving car very hard week or so ago and cut again. Now car is being sold so gotta hit nail on head. It happens when very hot and left cool for ten mins spark returns and starts and runs smooth. Soeither coil or amp are overheating or else temp sensor cutting spark???

change the ignition amp sounds like breaking down when hot,you have already eliminated the coil.

Ignition amp. ... buy a known good old Bosch one (blue , not black .. black ones are sold as new items and are , kinda bad as well ... the old blue ones are always good ..) , and re-apply the thermal transfer paste/jelly at the back of the amp prior to refitting it to the ally plate .

(.. and stay clear of Intermotor amps -> crap .)
