3.0L V6 Conversion

Recommended Posts

peter

Just bought my 205 back and after a bit of thought have decided to put a v6 in it as ive had a few 2.0 turbos and mi16s.

Ive been looking at past threads and i think i need the engine from a 306 coupe.

As for the mounts thats not a problem neither are the driveshafts.

Im asuming i can just fit the whole cable shift gear linkage.

Has anyone got any info on the wiring and clutch arangement?

thanks

Wirings very similar to the 2.0 turbo and gti6 wiring, theres a diagram in my sig that will come in usefull. Have you seen Pauls (thirdtimeluckys) project thread, goes into quite a lot of detail-

Ive found a few threads now using google search instead so thanks daviewonder!, Wiring should be pretty easy then. but im sure the engine needs to be from a manual car for the correct ecu?

Anyone know which car the most poweful of the engines came from 217hp rings a bell?

For ease of fitment you need the earlier 406 engine (194 bhp). The later engine (210 bhp) would be much more difficult to fit due to the multiplex wiring. I spoke to someone about the difference between V6 auto and manual ecu's a while back and although different part numbers, the ecu's are interchangable apparantly. Worth getting a manual one anyway as you won't want a auto v6 205 will you?

The ES9J4 is the easy engine to install, I think the ES9J4R can be done but the wiring is more difficult, But in terms of power not allot between them, the R has better torque low down.

Allot of work involved over the XU engine's and it does take a while
