Issues With Venair Silicon Hoses

Recommended Posts

spudgun

Hi there,

This week I have been trying to fit, without much success a Venair silicon hose kit to my other halfs 205 CTi. At first I thought I have buggered it up by ordering a 205 GTI kit for a CTI and maybe something was different under the bonnet. However, having done a bit of digging around the Baker BM kit looks total different to what I have been supplied and, in my mind, looks like what I'm after. However half the kit is now on the car and the middle man that I'm dealing with wants to try and rectify the situation before I send the whole lot back to Larkspeed for a refund. They do however, at this time, not have a clue what the issue is.

Anyway, can you give me an idea what the hell is going on.

This is the veniar kit. The 4 of the 9 hoses that do fit are the 2 radiator hoses, drivers inner wheel arch pipe to water pump and the SAD hose. The rest don't

The BakerBM kit is as follows.

The Baker kit has the long hose that goes from the expansion tank to the offside top corner of the rad for starter. Also the heater matrix pipes look right here but all wrong on the Venair kit.

Anyone give me a clue, and more importantly the importer, what the deal is?

Thanks in advance

It is not for a left hand drive car then?

I bought a baker kit for a friend and just approx 50% of the hoses fitted, probably due to the baker kit at least is ment for RHD ones...

The main hoses does fit though.

Thanks for the response. You could be just the fella to help me out. I have had this conversation with the importer but he knows nothing.

Anyway, the top heater matrix hose, the one with the bleed valve, on our RHD cars is on the left hand side of the engine bay as you look in at the engine or in front of the driver. Does the heater matrix connections on the bulkhead move to the same side as the driver on LHD cars?

If so I'm sure this is the problem as I have offered up the afforementioned hose up to its lower connection point and it ends up on the other side of the engine bay from where it should.

I hope this makes sense.

Yes on LHD cars the matrix pipes are on the other side [gearbox side]. Same matrix and metal pipes but upside down so it comes out the other side of the bay. Just looked my pictures to check both my lhd and rhd 205's to confirm it there :) .

Lhd car those are tu engine pipes connected though so ignore them, but shows you where the pipes come out on the bulkhead.

Thanks chap. I have seen a few images, thanks to google, as well and I can kind of recognise some of the hoses I have been supplied on a LHD car. Its looking that way now, but I do wonder what the hell venair are thinking about.

I say it's common knowledge that the Venair kit's are all for LHD car's and with the amount on EBay etc I'm surprised they haven;t done anything about it really, Might be a cheap far eastern make?

Cheers Miles,

I get the impression from my contact so far there a spanish company and you can read into that what you want. I have questioned the fact that they must have had issues with these before but I have been told I'm the first with any problems. They have also shifted around 100 of these kits to UK customers, so I can only guess there are 500 hoses sat around doing nothing.

Any chance you can point me anywhere where this has been discussed before?

Just to confirm what others have said, you have a LHD kit.

I have had a number of phone calls/emails with people who have had the same problem. Quite poor service considering the customer has to contact a different company to try and find the reason behind the problem..

I even emailed one of the Venair Ebay sellers to let him now. Apprantely there isn't an issue.

BlackMi16- I do full 205GTI LHD kits. So it will not be a problem swapping the RHD hoses you have. Just send me a PM.

Thanks for the offer Stew.

It's not an issue for me anymore so no problem mate.

I kinda expected it to be this way anyway at the time of purchase, although didn't know you do LHD kits, nice to know to the next time :)
