Td Twin Fans On A 205 / Gti6 Loom

Recommended Posts

Rallye is days from MOT ^_^

Just last couple of things to sort out, I'v got a twin fan set up from a STDT and took the relays whilst I was there, should I be able to just plug it all in or not!? I can't see how to. I was going to get some photos to show you what I have but forgot.

I'v got a couple of plugs about the engine bay (near the fan set up) and I'm not sure which is to do with the fans!

Thanks, Ali :)

If you've both the twin fans and the complete relay/loom setup then it's just plug and play.

Loom has connections to the fans (obviously), power from the shuntbox, earth near the headlight, connection to the radiator thermoswitch, and a red plug that connects to the engine bay wiring loom for 12v switched ignition - it's not strictly speaking needed and you can just wire to to a constant 12v instead, just means the fans will run after the ignition is switched off until the temperature comes down sufficiently (which is exactly as the standard GTi setup works anyway)

Nice one, thanks Anthony, that sounds about right for what I have!

Also just to let you know that engine runs so sweet, is very, very smooth. It's a goodun!

Told you that it was a really good engine - I'd been keeping that one for myself, and I'm sure that I'll end up kicking myself for selling it if I decide to go down the GTi-6 route in the future

haha, even in liners were in perfect condition with visiable honing marks! You won't want it back next year Anthony, it might have a lynx super charger thing on it

I'v got the radiator sensor/switch with the three pins poking out not the one with the plastic surround to clip onto (if you get me  )

So I'm after a diagram or similar so I know which wire goes were, theres a white, green and red wire (I think) So I can wire it straight to it untill I get the correct switch.

Thanks, Ali

(or I might go to the scrap yard and get one)

Just get the correct switch in the first place, rather than hacking it around to fit the old style switch. Either scrappy or they're not much money new.

The newer style thermoswitches should be on most Phase 2 205's and 309's, and the vast majority of non-AC early-mid 90's Peugeot and Citroen's.

The temperature ratings are usually stamped on them and there's sometimes a coloured band as well to indicate temperature rating.

If you get stuck I should have a few spare here
