Less teeth that what Shalmaneser's VTS crown wheel picture from his VTS thread - HERE ?

His has 65 teeth compared to my 59 teeth. I will sort a picture of this crown wheel later.

My 205 diff is exactly the same and wonder if my 16/59 VTS crown wheel makes any difference to the ratios etc ?

Cheers

yes, but how many teeth on the pinion? You can't work out the ratio without it.

Is that the cog above the diff inside the gearbox ?

If so ill count them laters.

Whats the reason though as to why mine has less teeth ?

You don't need to count the teeth - the numbers are printed on the side of the crownwheel.

Smaller number is the pinion, and larger the crownwheel. Divide one by the other, and that'll give you the final drive ratio

In your case, a 16/59 is a 3.69 FD which is NOT a Xsara VTS box.

65 teeth is not a VTS box either

Its a 5 speed BE-3 G box stamped on and it has the pull type clutch.

So what box has my engine got then ?

The diff might have been changed at some point maybe, i noticed that some bolts were easier to undue than others did

That will teach me to read other peoples threads more closely. Only the last pic of his thread it says about the VTS 14/ needs to be on the 205 diff with pic showing the VTS one being taken off, the others dont seem to match the pics

Sorry about that I managed to confuse myself fairly comprehesively putting that online!

As long as the gearbox retains the same crown wheel you're away, basically!

Yeah no worries mate, i got there in the end. I did notice that the 205 crown wheel when inside the box had to much movement between the teeth, which got me thinking if i had the right one fitted

Its my fault really as i got the crown wheels mixed up due to working on the diff on separate days and forgot which was which

Here it is >
