Don't try Sky

Just insured my Mi with Footman James for £240 with agreed value of £3000, all mods declared, though on pretty limited milage of 1500. Flux wanted over £200 more without agreed value, Greenlight, who I've been with for a few years wanted just under £400 and wouldn't even consider agreed value.

There are two really good points about Footman...First is that they'll allow you to insure modified cars over 15 years old on classic insurance, many wont. Second, and by far the best, is that footman dont use no-claims on classics, so my no-claims from the old policy for the 205 is now on a little 106 diesel that i brought to take the v6 petrol demand of my wallet! the little xrd has nearly paid back what it owes me in fuel savings in the first month alone!!

Incidently, insuring both the 205 and 106 combined was £25 cheaper than any other quote i got on just the 205 on it's own!

Just insured the supercharged 205, cost just over £500 with HIC and would have been another £100 with sky. Limited the 6000miles.

mad.

Footman! never heard of them before so just did a "quick quote" on their website for a totally standard 205 1.9 GTi

fully comp

1500 miles

SD & P

agreed value of £2000

£135 a year! WOW!!

Although it did state that it has to be garaged, no mods etc etc, even so that's the lowest price ive EVER been quotes on ANY 205 GTi

However they did quote 5 times the price of what ive been quoted on the car im getting soon

I would highly recommend Brentacre just for their customer service - very good, and helped me lots over the years, although I've never had to put a claim through.

The only reason I'm still not with them is that they bumped my premium up so much last year at renewal time (for no reason) that I had to look elsewhere. Would be back to them in a flash if they could bring their prices down!

That doesn't mean we will be uncompetitive for everyone though does it? We insure a lot of 205 Gtis and a fair few members of this club, we must be doing something right.

Reason I stopped using you was because renewal time came round and guess what about £50 more than the year before! And the first quote wasn't brilliant either, but to charge more when I have another years no claims and turned 21 (at the time) is hardly competitive
